Come along to our TOP 6 Marlborough Wine Tasting for the first time across two nights.
Marlborough is a beautiful New Zealand region as famous for its stunning surroundings as it is for its wines. As we all know Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough has found an unbeatable combination of soil and climate to create unique and highly sought after wines. New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has actually being our leading seller for the last three years and we feel we need to dedicate a tasting to it.

Little did those kiwis know when they planted those first Sauvignon Blanc crops back in the seventies what a worldwide phenomenon would follow but the enthusiasm for their wines has continued unabated. Australian restaurant wine lists once overflowing with Chardonnay, Semillon and Riesling are all offering New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs as their mainstay. The range is ever increasing as well with new labels popping up all the time.
With such incredible world wide demand it’s inevitable that the quality of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has waned in general with too many over ripe fruit bombs flooding the market at low price points. There are of course still sensible and dedicated producers at the core of the region and we like to think that the wineries we have chosen for this tasting represent careful and hand crafted wine making with an attention to detail whilst still offering great value for money.
We have made our decisions on who to showcase at this tasting based on the entire range of wines offered by each label, not just their Sauvignon Blanc, and they do make outstanding wines from other grape varieties. Whilst Marlborough has always produced good Chardonnay, Riesling and Pinot Gris there is some amazing Pinot Noir starting to come out of Marlborough too. The tasting is going to showcase some excellent quality and great value wines.
