Shiraz from Eden Valley is a wonderfully powerful, concentrated but elegant wine with Henschke ‘Hill of Grace’ probably the most famous single vineyard example. Tasting my way through the many samples of Eden Valley Shiraz really brought this home to me with consistently high quality examples across the board. I draw your attention to the Torzi Matthews wine as it will stand out as something quite different to the other wines. The grapes have been partially dried on rack making the resulting juice quite concentrated whilst still retaining that Eden Valley elegance. Delicious stuff.
ABOUT THE REGION:
Maybe it’s the overwhelming reputation of its big brother, the Barossa Valley, that we don’t hear much Eden Valley sales hype. Continuing the sibling rivalry analogy the Eden Valley sits confidently in the top bunk, perched overlooking its brother the Barossa from a high elevation that is the key to the elegance of its wines. Henschke is probably the most famous of its brands but today we reveal a whole other bag of vinous gems.
